Every month, more than 16 million South Africans receive various types of welfare benefits from the South African government. These grants are paid by the South African Social Security Administration (SASSA) to people without the financial means to support themselves.

If you want to avoid long lines on payday, consider waiting a few days to pick up your scholarship. This will save you time waiting for your money.
Sassa Gold Card
The SASSA Gold Card works just like a regular bank card. You can withdraw money from ATMs and use your card at checkout. The scholar will be required to create a PIN for her on the Gold Card so that the funds will not be withdrawn if the card is lost or stolen.
After your SASSA Benefits are paid each month, they will remain on your SASSA Gold Card until you are ready to use the funds.
The SASSA Gold Card is approved by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).
