If your application is rejected, you can ask for a review within 30 days through the DSD Independent Tribunal Website. You will have to wait up to 90 days for a decision on your appeal. Here’s how to submit an appeal for your declined SRD grant:
1. Access the DSD Independent Tribunal Page
- Visit the SASSA website at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal
- Click on “Appeals” under the “Services” tab.
2. Login to SRD
- Enter your ID and phone number used during the application and click on “Send pin”.
- The One Time Passwords (OTP) will be send via SMS, please enter the pin.
3. Find Your Declined Notification
- After entering the OTP, please click on the “Submit” button to find reasons for rejection.
4. Carefully Review Appeal Details
- Carefully read the displayed information, which includes the date of your application, denial date, and reason for denial.
6. Review and Submit Your Appeal
- Check your personal information, banking details and address for accuracy, then click “Submit Appeal.” A confirmation with a reference number will be sent via SMS.

It’s important to note that submitting an appeal doesn’t guarantee you a smooth approval or reconsideration, your application can still be rejected if your financial situation has improved.
